Dear Friends,

Twelve years ago, the idea for The Memorial Foundation came into being. Its genesis resulted from a simple concept: to create a charitable fund from the sale of Nashville Memorial Hospital that would benefit those whom the hospital had been built to serve. The Memorial Foundation has grown tremendously throughout the years. Thanks to the diligent work and prudent investments of our volunteer Board of Directors, we have significantly increased the size of the fund and distributed more than 1,600 grants totaling approximately $65 million to more than 500 outstanding agencies.

Yet The Memorial Foundation's focus has never changed. From the beginning to the present day and continuing into the future, The Memorial Foundation was, is and always will be dedicated to people.

Every day, it is our deep privilege to play a role in the good works performed by thousands of extraordinary Tennesseans acting on behalf of area nonprofit organizations, whether as staff members or volunteers. We exist not only to provide resources to them, but also to champion the people they serve. We marvel at what they are able to accomplish. And we are inspired by the achievements of those who turn to them for help and support. We are proud to be their foundation - The People's Foundation.

We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website and that it helps you gain an understanding of our purpose. If you are interested in learning more about the grant application process, please feel free to review our Application Guidelines.

Thanks again for visiting.

Sincerely,

J.D. Elliott
